A Smart Shortlink sends visitors to different URLs based on the day and time. Use one short link to send people to a campaign page during business hours and a contact form on weekends, or to swap destinations seasonally without changing the link itself.
Before You Start
- Smart routing is based on day and time only. Geographic and device-based routing aren’t supported.
- A single rule can’t span midnight. To run from 10pm to 2am, split it into two rules.
Create or Convert a Smart Shortlink
- Click URL Shortener in the sidebar.
- Either click Create Shortlink to start a new one, or open an existing shortlink and click Edit rules in the Smart rules card.
- Enter a Default destination. This is where visitors go when no rule matches.
- Pick a Time zone for your rules.
- Click Add rule and for each rule, pick the days, set a From and To time, and enter the Destination.
- You can add up to ten rules per shortlink. Reorder by dragging. When two rules match the same time, the one higher in the list wins.
- Click Save changes.
Tips
- You can switch a shortlink back and forth between a single destination and Smart rules without the short URL itself changing.
- If two rules cover overlapping windows, SnapGlyph will warn you before saving so you can confirm the order is right.
