Setting Up Smart QR Codes

Route a single QR code to different destinations based on the day and time, without reprinting.

Available on Pro and Max plans

A Smart QR sends scanners to different destinations based on the day and time. The same printed poster can route to a lunch menu during the day, a dinner menu after 4pm, and a brunch page on weekends, without you reprinting anything.

Before You Start

  • Smart routing is based on day and time only. Geographic and device-based routing aren’t supported.
  • A single rule can’t span midnight. To run from 8pm Friday to 2am Saturday, split it into two rules.

Create a Smart QR

  1. Click QR Codes in the sidebar, then Create QR.
  2. Pick Smart from the type selector.
  3. Enter a Default destination. This is where scanners land when no rule matches.
  4. Pick a Time zone. Rules fire in this time zone, regardless of where the scanner is.
  5. Click Add rule, then for each rule:
    • Give it a name (optional, only visible to you).
    • Pick the Days it should run. The Weekdays, Weekend, and Every day presets cover the common cases.
    • Set the time range with From and To.
    • Enter the Destination URL.
  6. You can add up to ten rules per QR. Drag the handle on the left of a rule to reorder.
  7. Continue with the rest of the QR design (colors, logo, frame), then save.

How Rule Order Works

Rules run top to bottom. When two rules match the same window, the one listed first wins. Drag rules to reorder if it matters. If you save with overlapping rules, SnapGlyph will flag the conflict so you can confirm the order is what you wanted.

Tip

You can edit a Smart QR’s rules any time without reprinting the code. The QR itself doesn’t change.
