Understanding Your Analytics Dashboard

Get a complete overview of your QR code and short link performance from a single dashboard.

Available on: Pro and Max plans

Overview

The Analytics Dashboard provides a centralized view of activity across all your tracked QR codes and short links. Instead of checking each item individually, you can monitor overall performance, identify trends, and compare performance from one place.

Accessing the Dashboard

  1. Sign in to your SnapGlyph account
  2. Click Analytics in the sidebar
  3. The dashboard loads with your aggregate data

Dashboard Tabs

The Analytics page is organized into three tabs:

  • QR Codes: Analytics for all your tracked QR codes
  • Short Links: Analytics for all your shortened URLs
  • API Usage: Track your API calls and image generation credits

The analytics for QR codes and short links are nearly identical, showing the same metrics and visualizations. Simply switch between tabs to view the data for each type.

Dashboard Sections

Summary Cards

At the top of the dashboard, you’ll see key metrics:

For QR Codes:

  • Total Scans: All-time scans across all your QR codes
  • Scans This Week: Activity in the last 7 days
  • Scans This Month: Activity in the last 30 days
  • Active QR Codes: Number of tracked codes currently active

For Short Links:

  • Total Clicks: All-time clicks across all your short links
  • Clicks This Week: Activity in the last 7 days
  • Clicks This Month: Activity in the last 30 days
  • Active Short Links: Number of tracked links currently active

These give you a quick health check of your overall performance.

Activity Over Time Chart

The main chart shows scan or click activity over your selected time period:

  • Daily view: See day-by-day patterns
  • Weekly view: Identify week-over-week trends
  • Monthly view: Track long-term growth

Adjusting the date range:

  1. Click the date selector above the chart
  2. Choose a preset (Last 7 days, Last 30 days, etc.)
  3. Or select custom start and end dates

Geographic Distribution

A map or list showing where your scans or clicks originate:

  • Countries ranked by activity count
  • Percentage breakdown by region
  • Visual representation of global reach

This helps you understand:

  • Which markets are engaging with your content
  • Where to focus marketing efforts
  • Whether you’re reaching target regions

Device Breakdown

See what devices people use:

Device TypeTypical Range
Mobile85-95%
Tablet3-10%
Desktop1-5%

Most QR scans come from mobile devices. Short links may show higher desktop usage depending on how they’re shared. Unusual patterns (like unexpectedly high desktop traffic for QR codes) might indicate:

  • Bot activity
  • Testing
  • Codes used in digital contexts

Top Performers

A ranked list of your most active QR codes or short links:

  • Name
  • Total scans/clicks
  • Recent trend (up/down)
  • Quick link to individual analytics

Use this to identify your best performers and learn what makes them successful.

Recent Activity

A feed of recent activity showing:

  • Timestamp
  • QR code or short link that was accessed
  • Country/region
  • Device type

This real-time view helps you see activity as it happens.

Filtering and Segmentation

Filter by Date

Narrow your view to specific time periods:

  • Preset ranges (7 days, 30 days, 90 days, year)
  • Custom date range picker
  • Compare periods (this month vs last month)

Filter by Item

Focus on specific QR codes or short links:

  • Search by name
  • Filter by batch (if using bulk generation)
  • Select multiple items to compare

Filter by Location

Analyze specific geographic regions:

  • Filter by country
  • View regional breakdowns
  • Exclude certain regions

Reading the Data

Upward trends may indicate:

  • Successful campaign launch
  • Increased visibility of printed materials or shared links
  • Seasonal relevance

Downward trends may indicate:

  • Campaign ending
  • Materials being removed or links no longer being shared
  • Seasonal decline

Spikes often correlate with:

  • Events or promotions
  • Media mentions
  • New material distribution or link sharing

Comparing Performance

When comparing items:

  • Consider placement and distribution differences
  • Account for audience size
  • Factor in how long each item has been active

A QR code with 100 scans in a small retail store may outperform one with 500 scans on a highway billboard, relative to impressions.

Anomaly Detection

Watch for unusual patterns:

  • Sudden spikes: Verify they’re legitimate (not bots)
  • Geographic oddities: Activity from unexpected countries
  • Device anomalies: High desktop percentage for QR codes

Exporting Dashboard Data

To export your analytics:

  1. Set your desired filters and date range
  2. Click Export or the download icon
  3. Choose format:
    • CSV: For spreadsheets and data analysis
    • PDF: For reports and presentations

Exports include all visible data based on your current filters.

Tips for Dashboard Use

Regular Check-ins

Establish a routine:

  • Daily: Quick glance at recent activity
  • Weekly: Review trends and top performers
  • Monthly: Comprehensive analysis and reporting

Create Benchmarks

Track metrics over time:

  • Baseline activity rates
  • Average scans/clicks per item
  • Geographic distribution norms

This helps you identify when something is performing above or below expectations.

Act on Insights

Use dashboard data to:

  • Double down on high-performing placements and channels
  • Investigate and fix underperforming items
  • Plan future campaigns based on patterns

Troubleshooting

Dashboard not loading

  • Refresh the page
  • Check your internet connection
  • Try a different browser

Data seems incorrect

  • Verify the date range selected
  • Check filters that might be excluding data
  • Make sure you’re on the correct tab (QR Codes vs Short Links)
  • Allow time for recent activity to appear (up to a few minutes)

Export not working

  • Try a smaller date range
  • Disable browser extensions that might block downloads
  • Try a different browser
