Available on paid plans. Starter includes 5 dynamic QR codes; Pro and Max include unlimited.
A dynamic QR code routes through SnapGlyph before sending people to their destination, which means you can change that destination at any time. The printed code never changes; the same poster simply points somewhere new the next time it’s scanned. That’s the whole reason to save a QR code instead of using a static one.
Which Codes You Can Edit
You can change the destination of a saved, dynamic QR code — one that redirects through SnapGlyph. The steps below cover a single-destination dynamic code, such as a tracked URL code.
A couple of dynamic types are re-pointed elsewhere rather than from the Edit URL field:
- Smart QR codes lead to different destinations by day and time, so you change where they go by editing their rules, not a single URL.
- Link Hub codes take their destination from the hub, so you update the hub.
You can’t change the destination of a static code that encodes the address directly in its pattern. There’s nothing to redirect, so the destination is baked into the printed image. Codes made with the free, no-account builder fall into this group because they aren’t saved to an account. If you need an editable destination, make sure the code is saved and tracking is enabled. See Enabling Scan Tracking.
Change the Destination
- Click QR Codes in the sidebar and click the code you want to change to open its detail page.
- In the Destination panel, click Edit URL.
- Enter the new destination URL.
- Save your change.
The QR image stays exactly the same. Anyone who scans the existing code now lands on the new destination, and your scan history carries over.
Editing the Design vs. the Destination
Design and destination are edited in two different places:
- Design (colors, pattern, frame, logo) is edited from the Edit button on the code’s detail page. The destination URL is shown there but is read-only.
- Destination is edited only from the Edit URL button in the Destination panel on the detail page.
If you open the design editor to change a destination, you’ll see a note pointing you back to the Edit URL button on the detail page.
Tip
Test the code after you change the destination to confirm it routes correctly before you rely on it in the field.
