SnapGlyph Releases Smart QR Codes and Smart Shortlinks

A single QR code or short link can now route to different destinations based on the day of the week or time of day, automatically.

Today we’re shipping Smart QR Codes and Smart Shortlinks. The same QR code or short link can now route to different destinations based on the day of the week or time of day, automatically.

Dynamic QR codes and shortlinks are great at the basics. Print one code, point it anywhere, change the destination later if you need to. But there’s a whole class of campaign where the destination needs to change throughout the day, not just over the lifetime of the code:

  • A restaurant with separate breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, where one printed QR on the table serves the right menu for the time someone walks in.
  • A retail store or service business that wants scans during business hours to land on the storefront and after-hours scans to land on a contact form.
  • A “Coming Soon” page that needs to flip to a real product page at midnight on launch day, without anyone needing to be awake for it.

Until now, all of those required someone to log in and swap the URL by hand at the right moment, every time. Smart QR Codes and Smart Shortlinks let you set the schedule once and the destination handles itself. Same code, same printed URL, different page depending on when someone scans or clicks.

We shipped both at once because for most small businesses, the QR on the table tent and the short link in the Instagram bio point to the same campaign. The same scheduling tools should work in both places.

“Dynamic QR codes already solved the basic problem of getting someone to a destination you control,” said Garrett Genest, founder of SnapGlyph. “What they didn’t solve until now is what happens when that destination needs to change at lunch and again at dinner. You either reprinted, or you set a calendar reminder to log in and swap the URL. Smart routing handles the swap for you.”

Available today, on Pro

Smart QR Codes and Smart Shortlinks are live on the Pro and Max plans, including the 14-day free trial. If you’re already on Pro or Max, the new types show up in the Create QR and Create Shortlink flows the next time you open them.

A note on pricing. Time-based routing has been a $15–$49 a month “advanced” feature on most competing platforms. It’s on Pro here at $5 a month because the small businesses we built this for shouldn’t have to climb to a third-tier plan to get it.
